The Greens are calling on Brisbane City Council to consult with our community and release a closure and rehabilitation plan by the end of 2020. And close the quarry itself by 2025.
Michael Berkman - Greens MP for Maiwar, Donna Burns - The Greens for Paddington, Charles Druckmann - The Greens for Pullenvale Ward, and Michaela Sargent - The Greens for Walter Taylor are calling for a closure and rehabilitation plan for the quarry site by the end of 2020 and closure by 2025.
Critical to this process is extensive consultation with the community, the first step of which was a forum for the rehabilitation of the Mount Coot-tha Quarry held in October 2019 facilitated by the Mt Coot-tha Protection Alliance Inc and Michael Berkman - Greens MP for Maiwar.
The site has enormous potential to be transformed into a beautiful, world class, environmentally sensitive addition to the Mt Coot-tha public parklands.
If elected as the councillor for Paddington Ward in 2020, that is what I would push for.
